What we offer
At Vale Stables, we craft high-quality timber garden sheds, summer houses, garden rooms, and chicken houses – each tailored to suit your space, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences. Whether you’re after practical storage, a peaceful retreat, or a secure space for your hens, our buildings combine timeless craftsmanship with robust, weather-resistant materials.
Timber Garden Sheds – Built to Last
Our timber sheds are more than just storage! They’re built to complement your garden while keeping your tools and equipment safe and dry. Choose from standard sizes or fully bespoke designs with custom door, window, and roof options. Whether it’s for storing gardening tools or creating your child’s Wendy house, we’ll design a solution that fits both your space and your needs.
Timber Summer Houses – A Garden Escape
Turn your garden into a relaxing retreat with a bespoke summer house designed just for you. From quiet reading nooks to outdoor entertaining spaces, our summer houses are made with premium-grade, pressure-treated timber to withstand years of use and British weather. You can choose your preferred size, shape, roof finish, and window style to create the perfect garden hideaway for your family.
Garden rooms – Extra Space, No Planning Hassle
Need additional space without the fuss of a traditional extension? Our timber garden rooms provide a stylish and functional solution for everything from home offices to hobby rooms. Often falling under permitted development, most projects won’t require planning permission. We can include features like Georgian windows, cedar shingles, and even carpet tiles—making your garden room feel just like home.
Chicken Houses – Secure and Practical
Protect your flock with a custom timber chicken house designed for comfort, safety, and ease of care. Available in various sizes for flocks large or small, our hen houses are built to withstand the elements and deter predators. At Vale Stables, we believe a good chicken coop should not only safeguard your hens, but also make day-to-day care as simple as possible.
Quality Construction – From the Ground Up
We provide detailed floor plans to help your builders lay a concrete base correctly. While a concrete foundation is recommended, we can also install your stable on alternative surfaces—just speak with our team to explore the options.
For added protection and longevity, we recommend installing a single course of semi-engineering bricks, as specified in our floor plans. This elevates the building to prevent moisture ingress and extends its lifespan. Alternatively, we can supply a galvanized steel plinth or, if preferred, place the building directly onto the concrete base.
At Vale Stables, our reputation for superior craftsmanship is built on decades of experience and customer satisfaction. We use only high-quality raw materials and are proud that much of our business comes through word-of-mouth referrals. Our commitment is simple: to deliver premium-quality stables that offer exceptional value for money.
We source all our timber from the cold forests of Sweden and Siberia. Timber from these regions grows slowly, producing dense wood with tight growth rings—minimizing shrinkage, warping, and splitting. Every piece is pressure-treated with Tanalith ‘E (BS EN 335-1) for long-lasting durability and resistance to decay.
Unlike many competitors, we reinforce our Onduline roofs with 11mm OSB lining as standard. This prevents sagging—an issue common in timber buildings—and adds significant structural strength. It’s just one of the ways Vale Stables goes above and beyond to deliver exceptional quality and durability.
Reinforced Roofing – Standard on All Buildings
All our Onduline roofs are lined with 11mm OSB boards as standard—a feature that adds considerable strength and prevents sagging, especially during harsh weather. This attention to detail sets us apart from many competitors.
Roofing Options:
- Onduline roofing (black, green, red, brown) – always OSB-lined
- Asphalt shingles – great visual appeal at a great price
- Cedar shingles – top-tier look and durability with a 30+ year lifespan
- Onduvilla tiles – stylish, lightweight, and available in various colours
- Galvanised box profile and P6 fibre cement – available on request
We always recommend fitting guttering to the front of your garden building, with leaf guards available for easier maintenance. Rear guttering is optional based on your preferences.
